PEFC UK are pleased to welcome Tom King and Monika Carlin to our board of directors.
Tom is Carbon Manager at Sir Robert McAlpine, a UK-based tier one building contractor delivering complex projects nationwide. He leads the deployment of the company’s PAS 2080–verified carbon management system and has over a decade of experience in sustainable construction. A Chartered Environmentalist, Tom has delivered award-winning projects certified to leading environmental and wellbeing standards. He is also currently a member of the PEFC Project Certification Task Force, who are currently working on revised requirements for the standard.
Monika has nearly 2 decades of experience in the timber industry, and currently serves as Procurement Compliance Manager at Howdens Joinery. She specialises in sustainable procurement, timber legality, and ethical trading, with expertise in supplier onboarding and management.
As Senior Chain of Custody Manager at Howdens, she oversees a diverse portfolio and demonstrates strong expertise in trademark matters as well as European Union Deforestation-free Regulations (EUDR). Drawing upon her background in law and leadership, she actively participates in industry organisations including Timber Development UK, the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade and SEDEX Community. Monika plays an integral role in procurement and supply chain management, maintaining a prominent focus on Human Rights, corporate due diligence and sustainability.
She is also certified as a Sanctions Specialist (CSS) by the Association of the Certified Sanctions Specialist (ACSS) and is dedicated to driving ethical, sustainable, and innovative procurement within the timber sector.
Tom replaces Steve Cook who left the board in April after nearly 13 years as a director, whilst Monika replaces Patrick Guest who also left in April after serving a single 3 year term.
